Geneva Launch of the Global Peace Index
On the occasion of the release of the 11th edition of the Global Peace Index, the Institute for Economics and Peace and the GCSP invite you to an event which sheds light on the economic implications of Peacebuilding activities and the question on how to measure them.
The 2017 Global Peace Index ranks 163 countries according to levels of societal safety and security, militarisation, and ongoing conflict. Mr Steve Killelea, Founder and Executive Chairman of the Institute for Economics and Peace, will present the findings of the 2017 report, with a particular focus on understanding the economic costs of violence and the cost-effectiveness of peacebuilding.
Relevant to the Sustaining Peace Agenda, the following panel discussion will focus on conflict prevention and on the role of the media to counter prevailing misinformation and democratization process.
Opening Address and Chair
