Maryam Siddiq Baba has been working for the past sixteen years on issues related to arms control and disarmament in Pakistan. Currently employed by the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, she has prior experience with the Arms Control and Disarmament Director of the Strategic Plans Division (SPD), Pakistan. Her extensive work on CBRN policy issues includes representing Pakistan in both national and international disarmament platforms and negotiations.
Maryam holds two Master’s degrees, one in Defence and Strategic Studies and the other in English Literature, both obtained in Pakistan. She is presently enrolled in a PhD program at the School of Politics and International Relations (SPIR), Quaid-i-Azam University, focusing their dissertation on “Technology Governance and International Security: A Case Study of Biological Technologies.”
Her professional interests in CBRN issues have led her to pursue specialized training in nuclear and chemical safety and security, nuclear safeguards, biosecurity, and international law. Additionally, she is a fellow of the Research Society of International Law (RSIL), Pakistan, and the Centre for International Strategic Studies, Pakistan.
