It is with profound sadness that the Geneva Centre for Security Policy Community announces the passing of our esteemed former colleague and friend, Professor Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Mohamedou.

His journey with GCSP began as a project partner with the Centre while he was still at Harvard University. When he joined,  his exceptional talents were quickly recognised, leading to his promotion as Head of the Middle East and North Africa Programme only a year later. In 2014, he was appointed Deputy Director and Academic Dean, becoming a key member of the Senior Executive Team.

Mahmoud's impact was profound and far-reaching. He was renowned for his unparalleled professionalism and expertise, his innovative and out-of-the-box thinking, his leadership as a top-quality speaker and impressive scholar, as well as his ability to inspire practitioners worldwide.

Mahmoud will be deeply missed and may his legacy continue to inspire & guide us all.
