Risks in the Information Space: Tackling Challenging Digital Norms in Relations to the War in Ukraine – An Alumni Event
A GCSP Alumni Regional Security Conversation
The information space can be defined in four simple words: “barriers and bridges, floods and deserts”.
Disinformation campaigns have been a major tool applied consistently as crises intensify. Particularly today in relations to the Russia-Ukraine war, the digital technology plays an important, if not decisive role. The public square has been deeply transformed. While governmental institutions are trying to tackle this, it is a fact that fake news is omnipresent.
Our alumni guest speakers will share their research and analysis on disinformation campaigns and the influence on vulnerable populations and regions of the world, followed by a roundtable virtual discussion.
We will hear about the Caucasus, Ukraine and the wider region; the influence within the information space on governmental levels, and the vital form information takes in the humanitarian context.
Are there lessons learned from the current situation in Ukraine? How can the international community contribute?
