Swiss Peacebuilding Training Course (SPTC) 2025 – 26th Edition
The GCSP on behalf of the Swiss Federal Department for Foreign Affairs (FDFA) and in cooperation with the Swiss Armed Forces offers a 2-week course on peacebuilding for the Swiss FDFA Expert Pool and selected international participants.
Building peace is complex, challenging, and ever-changing.
Join us at the SWISSINT International Command Centre to immerse yourself in learning – from peacebuilding concepts, skills, and tools to how you apply them effectively in the field in support of your purpose, mission and organisation.
Learning objectives
The course covers theoretical and practical aspects of building peace in turbulent times. Through our comprehensive and inclusive approach to peacebuilding, this course is designed to meet the training needs for peace missions, programmes and initiatives. Specifically, the course enables you to:
- Develop your knowledge and analytical skills to understand trends and developments in peacebuilding and the interlinked challenges of peace and security within increasingly complex and volatile peacebuilding environments,
- Strengthen your capacity to design and develop effective peacebuilding projects and interventions,
- Apply the theoretical and practical tools, instruments and skills taught in the course in a realistic field-based scenario exercise.
The course is aimed at members of the Swiss Expert Pool for Civilian Peacebuilding and international participants with some 5 years of peacebuilding experience, either civilian or military. International participants should be affiliated with government ministries, institutions, non-governmental organisations or traditional authorities. Applicants will be selected on a competitive basis and with due regard to diversity and gender balance.
This course is sponsored by the Government of Switzerland. Participants will need to cover the cost of their travel to the course venue in Stans, medical coverage and visa.
