Building Capacities for Effective Implementation of the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT)
This course is intended to train government officials of states having signed or acceded to the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) on how to implement its provisions effectively. The goal of the course is to contribute to fulfilling the two main objectives of the ATT: to “establish the highest possible common international standards for regulating or improving the regulation of the international trade in conventional arms” and to “prevent and eradicate the illicit trade in conventional arms and prevent their diversion.
This course is primarily directed at:
• government decision-makers in the field of conventional arms trade regulation,
• legal advisors involved in conventional arms trade regulation as well as,
• staff of government arms trade licensing agencies.
This course is free of charge. Participants from OECD countries are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation costs.
Some scholarships are available to cover costs for participants from countries eligible for overseas development assistance according to the OECD list.
