Jennifer Parlamis is a Professor of Organization Development and Leadership in the School of Management at the University of San Francisco. She received a BA in Psychology and Fine Art from Georgetown University, an MA in International Studies and Diplomacy from University of London, a Ph.D. in Social/Organizational Psychology from Columbia University, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Negotiation at Columbia Business School.
Jennifer’s research interests include emotions and technology in negotiations, leadership discourse, and topics related to international studies and diplomacy such as global governance, migration, and change in multilateral organizations. Her research has been published in journals such as the International Journal of Conflict Management, Team Performance Management, Group Decision and Negotiation, Journal of Management Inquiry, Negotiation and Conflict Management Research, Journal of Management Education, Computers in Human Behavior, and Negotiation Journal. Jennifer serves as an Associate Editor at Group Decision and Negotiation.
Jennifer is an active member of the International Association for Conflict Management (IACM). Her Executive Board roles for IACM have included Board Secretary, Representative at Large, SiGNAL Newsletter Editor, and Communications Chair. She received the Outstanding Leadership Award from IACM in 2017 and an Outstanding Service Award in 2019.
Jennifer teaches classes on Negotiation and Bargaining, Workplace Diplomacy, Mindful Leadership, Self-as-Instrument, and Consulting Projects. She received a Jesuit Foundation Grant for teaching innovation in 2019 and a Negotiation and Team Resources Teaching Grant in 2020.
Jennifer also works as an organization development consultant, executive coach, and certified mediator. She consults across industry, sector and organizational level; previous consulting engagements have included teams and individuals from start-ups, biotech, education, greentech, entertainment, Fortune 500, non-profit, and government organizations.
Jennifer is currently an Executive-in-Residence Fellow at the Geneva Center for Security Policy where she is conducting research on United Nations Security Council reform.
