Bruno Alois Russi is a retired Swiss Colonel with an accomplished military and diplomatic career. He joined the GCSP as an Associate Fellow in 2024.

With a distinguished military career spanning several decades, he served in various leadership and intelligence roles, including key positions within the Swiss Army Staff. Notably, he retired as a Defence Attaché, a diplomatic military role, having represented Switzerland in Moscow (covering the Russian Federation, Armenia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan), New Delhi (covering India, Sri Lanka, Singapore, and Thailand), and across Central Asia. His expertise extends to international relations, military strategy, and intelligence, culminating in a long-term commitment to Swiss military diplomacy.

In addition to his military service, Colonel Russi is an author and contributor to multiple publications on security policy and military leadership, including Im Einsatz für Sicherheit und Frieden and Military Leadership Concepts: An International Perspective. His career reflects a deep dedication to Swiss security policy and global diplomacy.

Colonel (Retd) Russi is fluent in German, English, French, and Russian and holds a Master's degree in English Language and Literature, History, and Political Science from the University of Zurich.
