Ambassador Greminger travels to USA to reactivate partnerships

This month, Ambassador Thomas Greminger visited Washington DC. He reconnected with partners, presented the centre’s activities, and met with experts to discuss new opportunities.

Ambassador Thomas Greminger and Ms Alexandra Matas, Senior Advisor and the Deputy Head of the Diplomatic Dialogue, were hosted by Ambassador Jacques Pitteloud and the Swiss Embassy in Washington DC.

During the trip, Ambassador Greminger and Ms Matas met with representatives from the US Department of State and Department of Defense. They also met with representatives of academic think tanks including the following institutions:

  • American University
  • Atlantic Council
  • Brookings Institute
  • Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS)
  • German Marshall Fund of the United States
  • RAND Corporation
  • United States Institute of Peace (USIP)
  • US Russia Foundation (USRF)
  • US National Defense University (NDU)

Meetings were held with the Belgian Ambassador, H.E. Jean-Arthur Régibeau, the Finnish Ambassador H.E. Mikko Hautala, the French Ambassador H.E. Philippe Etienne, the Romanian Ambassador H.E. Andrei Muraru, the Russian Ambassador, H.E.  Anatoly Ivanovich Antonov, and the Ukrainian Ambassador H.E. Oksana Markarova.

In addition, Ambassador Greminger convened a meeting with young Swiss diplomats posted in Washington to discuss challenges and opportunities of a diplomatic career.

The United States of America has been a Foundation Council member of the GCSP since 1996 and shares a long history of partnership and support. We look forward to continued cooperation with our Foundation Council member state as we continue to advance peace, security and international cooperation through an impartial, inclusive, and independent lens.
