We enable you to enhance your crisis awareness, identify the required skills to deal with crisis and learn from others. You will practice your crisis management skills by exploring the latest theories and standards, learn about good practice, and explore crisis-related team dynamics. You will learn through a plurality of approaches ranging from appropriate crisis management structures and response methodologies to leadership skills and behavioural components. We ensure that your personnel and processes are as prepared as possible to plan, establish, maintain, review and continually improve its crisis management capability based on the guidance standard ISO 22361:2022.

We explore both the behavioural and organisational aspects of responding to crises. You will be required to respond to specifically designed interactive simulations based on real-life events that will test your levels of preparedness and enhance your ability to respond effectively and resiliently to crises.

Learning Objectives

This course will provide you a powerful combination of critical knowledge, improved skills and new techniques that will enable you to have the confidence in your ability to face the rapidly evolving challenges of a rapid onset crisis. Specifically, you will:

• undertake a self-assessment that evaluates your preparedness as an individual and at an organisational level
• deepen your understanding of the various characteristics of different types of crisis
• improve your ability to analyse complex issues, assess various options and establish an effective crisis management team
• understand the leadership and decision-making challenges associated with crises and avoid the pitfalls of various psychological biases
• experience in real time specific complex crisis that you will have to navigate and manage
